Jaclyn and Tyler Kilby’s wedding celebration at The Fairways of Halfmoon was a long time in the making!! I first met Jaclyn and her mom, Mary Beth, at The Hall of Springs Bridal Show in January of 2018. A few weeks later, Jaclyn, Mary Beth and Tyler came to my house for a more in-depth chat about all kinds of wedding related info. We hit it off right away and decided to officially work together for their May 18, 2019 wedding.
Fast forward a few months later to their engagement session – on a horse farm!! Their Best Man and Matron of Honor own and operate a horse farm, Meadow Hill Farm in Melrose, NY, where Jaclyn and Tyler both stable their horses and work as well. I always tell couples to choose an engagement session location that is meaningful to them, and the farm could not have been more perfect for this couple. They were in their element and the expressions on Jaclyn and Ty’s faces proved it. Natural, relaxed smiles – nothing forced – especially the shots with Jaclyn and her horse, Annie, together. The photos with Annie are even more cherished, seeing as she had to be put down a few months after our session.
Fast forward again to Meadow Hill Farm with a pre-wedding bridal party photo shoot! When Jaclyn asked if we could squeeze in a session like this a few weeks before the wedding, Jeff and I were all for it. Great chance to meet the bridal party members in an environment they’re all familiar with, in clothes they’re comfortable in, and without 100 pairs of eyes watching their every move! First time shooting a session like this – what a wonderful ice breaker this was. Could put names to faces before the wedding, insuring I was calling everyone in the bridal party the correct name the day of!
Countless emails, texts, meetings – site visits, 1st Look location choices – trying to make every part of Jaclyn and Tyler’s day stress free so they could enjoy their own wedding – this is my job as well. We had a few hiccups during the day, but nothing to derail the joy and love we all witnessed as Jaclyn and Tyler Kilby became husband and wife.
It seems like I always say “my” brides and grooms are more than just two people I photograph for a day – they become true friends who I hope will think of Jeff and me for other milestone events in their lives. The Kilby’s are ‘thankful and blessed’ (a wedding sign Jaclyn and Tyler made) to have found each other and have such wonderful and supportive family and friends close by. We wish you nothing but love, laughter, good health and joy as you start your lives together. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Kilby!!
